We make a constant effort to make sure our members and their families understand the value of participation in the Logansport Children’s Choir.

On this page, we let our members, parents, and alumni do the talking…

“Being a member of LCC was an incredible experience.  Not only did I make numerous friends and travel around the world, I also learned an appreciation for music that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

 Maria Perrone, LCC Member, 1993-2003

“My daughter, Maria, participated in the Logansport Children’s Choir for ten years.  This participation provided her with many opportunities she would not otherwise have had.  She has learned to sing well and has been exposed to many types of beautiful music.  She has made many friends from area schools.  The opportunities to travel and perform, both in the United States and abroad, have been wonderful.  I am grateful to the Logansport Children’s Choir for providing Maria this opportunity.”

 Peggy Perrone, LCC Parent

“I really don’t think the people in the choir realize how lucky they are…I know I didn’t appreciate it until I got to college.  When I tell people all the places I’ve been (England, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, New York, Canada) and all the wonderful things I’ve done (sang at a Pacers basketball game, sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir), they are in awe.  Quite frankly, so am I!  Coming from such a small town and being given so many wonderful, rich experiences is not something you encounter often.  I hope and pray that someday when I have kids that they will have the love for music that I have.”

 Leah Rayl, LCC Member, 1990-2000

“For the rest of my life I will remember the New Orleans Tour.  The trip was an exciting adventure!  We all had a blast making memories that will last a lifetime.  The concerts, the three-hour-long rehearsals, and the continuous drilling of music was all worth it.  This choir has allowed me to do many great things that I otherwise would not have had the opportunity to do.  This next year is my last in choir.  I know it will be a great year (as always) and it will be a perfect ending to a ten-year commitment of my life.  Thank you for giving me the gift of music and many memories and lifelong friends.”

 Miranda Boonstra, LCC Member, 1994-2004

“I’m extremely proud to have been one of the founding members (of LCC).  I wouldn’t change that for anything in the world.  I think it helped get my confidence in singing up and just my confidence in general.  Not to mention it’s a safe and fun thing kids can be involved in while still being education (although I’m not sure I’d tell them that.)  J  I’ve kept up my singing by being a part of my church’s Praise and Worship Team.  I’ve even been made the lead female singer.”

 Jennifer Arnold, LCC Member, 1988-1994

“I went to get on the Junior Civic Theater website and saw a link to the Children’s Choir website.  I just wanted to tell you that it looks great!  You guys are doing a wonderful job.  The choir was a major part of my life, and you provided many opportunities for me and the other members of the choir.  It makes me so glad to see that things are going stronger than ever.  Stumbling upon the website made my day!”

 Danni Smith, LCC Member, 1991-2001

“As a little 8-year-old in 3rd grade, I never thought that being in the Logansport Children’s Choir would affect my life as much as it has.  Now, as a 17-year-old, stepping into my last year with the choir, I look back in astonishment at the true adventure it became.  As if being surrounded by hundreds of talented people for almost ten years isn’t enough, I have also had the privilege of traveling to some of the most beautiful and meaningful places in the world.  Because of this, I feel lucky.  But beyond any cathedral, or tour t-shirt, or end-of-the-year skating party, I have received the magnificent gift of music…and that is what this wonderful organization is about.”

 Maureen Lindley, LCC Member, 1994-2004

“The Logansport Children’s Choir gave our son, Regan, limitless opportunities to perfect his singing talent.  It taught him discipline, teamwork, and gave him a true sense of pride in all of his musical accomplishments.  Mr. Cahalan was very understanding in regard to Regan’s other school and sport activities.  The friendships and travel experiences Regan gained were immeasurable.  We would highly recommend this program to any elementary or middle school student.”

Scott and Phyllis Starr, LCC Parents

“Why More Boys Should Join LCC”

by Regan Starr, LCC Member, 1997-2003

“As children’s choirs have grown over time, they have sometimes been stereotyped as something for girls.  This could not be further from the truth.  It is common for boys to play sports like basketball, baseball, or soccer.  However, these activities will not provide you with as many opportunities as the Logansport Children’s Choir can give you.  You get to meet new people.  You get to sing with other choirs.  You can tryout for an Honor Choir.  You get to learn about music, and you get to learn how to sing much better.  And you will develop a deeper appreciation for music.”  (EDITOR’S NOTE:  Regan forgot to mention all the cute girls.  That may not matter to a third grade boy, but give it time…J)

“Growing up with choral music daily played in my home, I was thrilled when Tim called to ask me if our son, Chip, would like to be a charter member of the new Logansport Children’s Choir.  Little did I know the effect this group would have on our lives!  Our immediate family has had one or more children in this choir for 15 consecutive years!  We have taken part in Honors Choirs in Indianapolis, IN, Columbus and Cincinnati, OH, New Orleans, LA, San Antonio, TX, Salt Lake City, UT (WITH THE MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR!!!!) and Washington, DC.  We have traveled overseas to England, Italy, Germany, and Austria.  None of these wonderful experiences would have happened for our children if they had not been part of this fantastic group…..not to mention the invaluable musical lessons they learn at each and every rehearsal.”

 Diana Geisler, LCC Parent

“Choir to me is more than going and practicing dumb songs every Monday and Wednesday. To me, going to choir is spending time with 60 other amazing people who all share the same interests.  And to me the songs aren’t dumb at all – they are masterpieces and when you share them with other people they are works of art.  Every day in choir we learn something new.  Through choir I have ventured to out-of-this-world places, and bonded with intelligent and amazing people.  I am only too sad that this year will be my last as a Logansport Children’s Choir member.  Being in this choir has been a privilege and an honor.”

 Kaylene Price, LCC Member, 1994-2004

“I absolutely love LCC.  The choir is like having a second family.  Mr. and Mrs. Cahalan work so hard to make sure we have a good time year after year.  On all my choir trips, I’ve had the time of my life!  The ten-day LCC trip to New Orleans was the highlight of my summer and best trip I’ve ever had!  The best part of LCC is singing marvelous songs in new and interesting places, making new friends, and enjoying once-in-a-lifetime experiences while having a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!!!

 Mishayla Binkerd, LCC Member, 1999-Present
